April 2026 Newsletter
Hi everyone,
The last few weekends have left me feeling so great (and exhausted)! The coaches are so proud of you daughters!! We had 16 athletes qualify to USAG Regionals, the largest group we have ever taken. Level 6's Kylie, Kelsey, Willa, Bina, Harper, Margaret, Addy, Kate. Level 7's Mila, Lydia, Emma, Hope, Claire, Kaylie, Audrey. Level 8 Ella. They will compete in Ft. Wayne on April 17-19. Wish them Good Luck!!
We took a clean sweep of Districts winning every level that we had with a team. The following athletes walked away as District Champions for their level and age group: XD-Audrey and Peyton. L8-Macyn. L7 Emma and Kenzie. L6-Kelsey and Harper. L2- Braelynn. L3- Mady and Meera. XG-Allyson and Ava G. L4-Mazie and Millie. XP- Ava K.
Of course there were too many event Champions to even count!!
As a note for next year I am considering having our upper level 7/8/XD kids who would like a break after the High School and USAG season not attend this meet. Our District unfortunately has basically no other competition at the upper number levels and I know your kids are exhausted. Next season if your Gymcat who is in those levels would like to sit this one out I am on board with it. Side note: There will be a chance for us to host Districts next season so there could be a volunteer commitment extra for that. Lots of things to keep in mind for next year.
Regionals
The schedule is posted to Facebook and is on the Regionals Website: https://www.ncygymnasticsteam.org/regionals-2026/parents
Reminder: This is a Championship meet. Not everyone will receive awards! The age groups will be larger and they only go out 12 places. For every meet we attend they split each level into even groups. If you have 30 kids they might do the 15 youngest and 15 oldest or 10/10/10.

Gymcat Challenge
This will take place on May 9th from 1-4pm. This is a fun team building inter squad meet that the girls love doing. They will be split into 4 groups with gymnasts of all different levels on each each team. Each gymnast will be given 2 events to "compete". The coaches will judge on a 3 point scale looking for things such as stuck dismounts, made routines, cast angles, connections. We will add up all of the teams points and deem a winner. Please let me know if your Gymcat will not be able to attend!
Summer Schedule
Many have asked and the current plan is to keep a very similar schedule to last summer. We will still be utilizing the mornings/early afternoons for practice times. My goal will be to get the summer schedule out by May 1st.
Moving Forward *Important*
During the next month I will be trying to touch base with each gymnast and have a discussion about next season. We typically do not solidify level choices until the end of the summer but with that being said we cannot accept new gymnasts onto the team without moving current team members to different practices. If the coaches collectively feel that your gymnast is ready to move to a different practice they will move for the summer. If your gymnast doesn't move practices for the summer they still will be working for the next level all summer and if we see that they are ready by the end of the summer they could move practices/levels for the school year.
I will be having a group chat with the level 3's and 4's but I would like to tell the parents too that this sport is very tough and repeating a level is not a bad thing. We like to say "A year to grow, a year to glow". Each athlete is different and some may get skills very quickly and for others it can just take more time. Unlike other sports we are not forced to move kids up due to their age. The coaches want to see each kid be SUCCESSFUL over everything else!! Sometimes moving up a level does not equal success. Confidence and mastery of the technique of the current skills so the next level skills can be attained easier is what we are aiming for.
With all that being said if your gymnast comes home talking about next season and you would like clarification about your own gymnast and moving forward please come and touch base with me before or after practice or shoot me a quick email.
As always, let me know if you have any questions.
