February 2025 Newsletter

Hi everyone,

Lot of moving parts are happening this month!! Several registration deadlines are upcoming, waivers need to be filled out, meet schedules, lots to keep straight!! This part of the season can start to get tough for the gymnasts. Our high schoolers are experiencing some overtraining and exhaustion and our younger gymnasts get caught in the monotony of routines. Please try to encourage your gymnast to get enough sleep, focus on getting good nutrition, and take some extra time to stretch or do joint (ankle and wrist) exercises at home. If any of you are on Instagram consider following @the_gymnast_nutritionist for great suggestions on gymnast friendly snacks and meals.

Weather

Just a friendly reminder that programming shuts down at the GC if Wood County is a level 2. Decisions get made around 7am and 2pm for the morning and evening programs respectively. Unfortunately because of the size of our team we don't have makeup spots for missed days. I will say this is the first time we have closed due to weather in about 6-7 years!

Feb 2nd-Feb 6th-Normal Practice

Feb 7th-Throwback Invite (no other practice)

Feb 23rd-Feb. 26th- Normal Practice

Feb. 27th- Combined 4-6pm Level 3/4/6/7/8/XG/XP/XD (due to HS Districts)

Feb. 28th- Normal Practice

Throwback Invite

Attached is the competition schedule. The address is: 207 Miller St. Ashland, OH 44805. Admission is $5 for Adult (12+) and $3 youth (4-11). Also attached is the roster.

Feb 21st Home Meet

Please notify me if your gymnast cannot attend this meet. I currently have all Level 2/3/4/6/7/XG/XP/XD that are not in high school or do USAG competing. There will be 3 sessions and the first one will not begin until 1pm due to classes. This will be your last opportunity to finish your 2 volunteer sessions for the regular season. Attached is the schedule. Volunteer sign ups will probably come out 1-2 weeks in advance.

Frosty Frog Invite

Please stop by the desk to fill out a waiver for this meet. I do not have a schedule yet.

YMCA Districts

Location: Tiffin YMCA

Dates: March 27/28 (Registration amount will determine if Friday is needed)

Levels: All levels. This is the level 2 and 3 Championship meet so please make it a priority to attend.

Fee: $60

Deadline: February 6th

YMCA Regionals

Please visit the website https://www.ncygymnasticsteam.org/regionals-2026 to see all of the current info regarding Regionals. Please fill out the online waiver and Seniors fill out the bios!

Regional leotard orders due Sunday February 10th (optional)

Registration deadline: March 2nd

Location: Hoover High School

Dates: April 10th-12th

Levels competing: 4/6/7/8/XG/XP/XD

Fee: $75

YMCA Nationals

Registration is coming up very soon. It will open on February 15th and run through March 15th. Please be on the lookout for an email and Facebook post with a special link that will guide you through registration. I would like to have a National's interest meeting on Friday February 6th at 6:00pm upstairs at the gym. The coaches will go through the basics of how Nationals works for the newbies and answer any questions you may have.

Special Events

Our team is planning to attend two BGSU Gymnastics meets on February 15th at 2pm and March 21st at 2pm. This event is optional but if you would like to attend here is the link for discount group rate: https://bgsufalcons.evenue.net/promotions/YMCA
